Tottenham and Atletico battle for David Villa

Tottenham and Atletico Madrid are locked in the battle for Barcelona striker David Villa, reports Catalan daily Sport.

Barcelona squad look set to undergo major changes in the summer and the Spain international should be one of the first players through the door.

Given that he is not too happy about his status at Camp Nou and that his deal is due to expire in June 2014, Villa looks set to leave at the end of the current campaign.

According to Sport, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid are leading the chase for the highly rated forward, with both sides ready to offer around €12 million for the experienced footballer.

Barcelona are holding out for €15 million, but that is unlikely to be too big of a problem for either of the interested sides.

David Villa, 31, has started just 14 La Liga games this season, netting 9 times in the process, as he has lost his starting place to Alexis Sanchez.
