Tottenham demand £35m for star midfielder

The Daily Mail is reporting that Tottenham Hotspur are demanding at least £35m for the services of Luka Modric.

The Croatian midfielder is once again attracting the attention of Manchester United this summer, but Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson will have to break the bank to get his man.

The 26-year-old is currently playing for his national team in Euro 2012 of course, but once he returns, United are likely to be knocking on Tottenham’s door.

With Spurs not in the Champions League next season, Modric is likely to be keen on making the move happen, meaning that he could force his way out of White Hart Lane.

United’s rivals Manchester City are likely to spend plenty this summer of course, so Ferguson wants Modric to make sure they compete again next year.

If Modric moves to Old Trafford, he could slot in nicely behind star striker Wayne Rooney and cause Premier League defences plenty of problems.

As for Spurs, they may well be resigned to losing the creative midfielder, but if they do, they are determined to get plenty of money for him.

Then, it is all about trying to find a replacement. With manager Harry Redknapp’s future up in the air too, it is certainly set to be an interesting summer at White Hart Lane.
