Tottenham failed in Diawara approach

Talksport understands that Tottenham Hotspur failed in a summer approach for Napoli forward Amadou Diawara.

The North London outfit were the only side in the Premier League to not sign a player in the recently closed transfer window and became the first club not to bring in any new recruits since the window was introduced in 2003.

They were linked with several players including Jack Grealish of Aston Villa, though they made an approach for Diawara according to Italian newspaper Corriere Dello Sport.

However, Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti was not interested in doing business, with the twenty-one-year-old very much in his plans.

Since signing from Bologna in the summer of 2016 Diawara has racked up thirty-nine appearances in Serie A, with his one and only league goal so far coming in a 2-1 win over Cheivo back in April.

He also netted in a Champions League defeat at Manchester City last October.
