Tottenham join race for Douglas

Tottenham are considering a Bosman deal for Twente defender Douglas, Daily Star has revealed.

Spurs are likely to stay without William Gallas when his contract expires at the end of the current campaign, while Younes Kaboul could also leave.

Andre Villas-Boas is, therefore, hoping to sign a new centre-back for the 2013/2014 season and he seems to have set his sights on Twente’s Douglas.

The Brazilian is available on a free transfer as his contract is due to expire, but Atletico Madrid and Juventus are also keen.

He has been heavily linked with a move to St James Park last summer, although the deal eventually fell through.

The 25-year-old has made a name for himself in Dutch Eredivisie, making 158 league appearances for the Tukkers. He recently received a Netherlands passport, and was on the bench in 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Romania and Andorra.
