Tottenham join race for Iago Aspas

Tottenham have made an official enquiry into the availability of Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas, La Tercera has revealed.

After their deal for Internacional striker Leandro Damiao fell through in the January transfer window, Spurs are keen to add another high-profile striker to their ranks in the summer.

Tottenham have been linked with a number of players from all over Europe, and they are now believed to be lining up a move for Celta Vigo star Iago Aspas.

Spurs are hoping to sign the talented forward for £6 million, even though he has an £8.3 million release clause inserted in his deal.

Chelsea and few Russian clubs were even prepared to meet his buy-out clause in January, but the player opted to remain at the club until the summer and help his side avoid relegation.

Aspas, who has scored 8 goals in 24 La Liga matches this season, is, however, widely tipped to leave Balaidos in the summer transfer window.
