Apparently the media does not think that Paul Robinson can do a good job at Tottenham, given his recent form. As a result Tottenham are desperately searching for goalkeepers. Allan McGregor and Andres Palop were top targets earlier this summer, but those moves came to nothing. Now Juande Ramos has set his mind on PSV’s Heurelho Gomes.
The Daily Mail reckons that the Brazilian goalkeeper is available for the right price and also thinks that that price is £10 million. Furthermore, Tottenham officials have been given the right to hold talks with the goalkeeper, who admitted earlier this season that his time at PSV might be up.
“I don’t think the club want me to stay here. Something drastic has to change to keep me here.” Said Gomes, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Meanwhile, Paul Robinson’s future is still very much uncertain. Several clubs have shown an interest in the player over the past several weeks, but a move has not materialized yet. It is unlikely that the former England number one will settle for a place on the Tottenham bench though.
That being said, the Daily Mail also thinks that Tottenham will look to buy a back-up goalkeeper after former No. 2, Radek Cerny, has ended his lengthy loan spell at White Hart Lane and has now moved to QPR.
