Tottenham sign Davies and Vorm as Sigurdsson joins Swansea

Tottenham have completed the signing of Swansea City duo Ben Davies and Michel Vorm, with Gylfi Sigurdsson moving in the opposite direction.

Wales full-back Davies, who has long been linked with a switch to White Hart Lane, has signed a five-year deal, with goalkeeper Vorm agreeing a four-year term.

Davies turned professional with Swansea in 2011, having joined the club as an eight-year-old, and featured in their League Cup final victory over Bradford City in 2013.

Having made 71 Premier League appearances for the Welsh outfit and earned 10 international caps, he is now excited to embark on a fresh challenge.

“Moving to Spurs is a massive footballing challenge for me again, but I’m looking forward to it,” the 21-year-old told Swansea’s official website.

“They were the ones chasing me from the beginning and I want to repay the faith they have shown in me by doing well for them and continuing to improve as a player.”

Dutchman Vorm, part of the Netherlands squad that finished third at the World Cup in Brazil, moved to the Liberty Stadium from Utrecht in 2011 and played in the same team as Sigurdsson when the Icelander was on loan at Swansea.

Sigurdsson made 18 Premier League appearances in that spell, scoring 11 goals, and the 24-year-old was pleased to seal a return to the club.

“I really enjoyed my time last time I was here, so it’s really good to be back,” he told the club’s official website. “I was here for five or six months and still have a lot of memories. Hopefully this time it will be even better.

“The squad has changed a little bit, quite a lot of new players have come into the squad, but the core is still there.”

Swansea boss Garry Monk, a team-mate of Sigurdsson when he was last at the club, has brought in Bafetimbi Gomis, Marvin Emnes and Lukasz Fabianski in the close-season, though he lost the services of striker Michu to Napoli on loan.

Davies and Vorm, meanwhile, are the first two players to sign for Tottenham under the reign of Mauricio Pochettino.

None of the fees involved have been disclosed.
