Sporting Lisbon president Soares Franco insists the club is not interested in selling 30-year-old striker Liedson in the January transfer window.
Liedson has been linked with moves to Spartak Moscow, Tottenham and Newcastle in recent weeks.
“People say Spartak Moscow is an option, but English clubs are also interested,” Liedson’s agent Gilmar Veloz is quoted as saying in the Portuguese media.
“Liedson has a contract until 2010 and we are not looking to sell players,” said Franco.
“Our accounts are good without player sales.”
Sporting coach Paulo added: “I don’t believe I’ll lose him. The fact there is interest doesn’t mean anything. If we lost every player there was interest in Sporting wouldn’t have enough players to make a squad.”
