Despite announcing that attacking duo Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov are not for sale, Tottenham are resigned to losing them. But, manager Juande Ramos is keen to make the most of the situation and, according to The Sun, he is counting on the money he would get from the sale of the two striker to complete his summer shopping.
The report in The Sun claims that Ramos would get to spend all the money that will be generated from the sale of Keane and Berbatov - about £18 and £25 million respectively - on the transfer market. The same report claims that Ramos would buy attacking duo Pavlyuchenko and Milito and wingers Bentley and Capel.
Roman Pavlyuchenko would cost Tottenham about £15 million despite CSKA Moscow’s reluctance to sell their player to a club not competing in the Champions League. Diego Milito meanwhile could leave relegated Zaragoza for about £10 million.
David Bentley would cost £17 million despite being in the final year of his contract with Blackburn and 20 year old Sevilla winger Diego Capel would be worth at least £15 million.
Tottenham have already brought in Croatian playmaker Luka Modric, PSV goalkeeper Gomes and Barcelona wonderkid Giovani dos Santos. It is being reported that apart from Berbatov and Keane, Paul Robinson, defenders Chimbonda and Kaboul, midfielders Tainio and Malbranque and striker Bent are set to leave White Hart Lane this summer.

Got something to say?

Selling players like Berbatov and Robbie Keane is absolutely mad, even some of the Man U supporters and Liverpool supporters think its mad?
Tottenham selling two of there best star players…
I think it will waste money, once we were nearly on the verge of bankruptsy, we would not want to repeat this???
michael,what else do you sugest we do ? have you been keeping up with whats goin on mate? they have gone past the point of keeping now.they both said they want to go and f**k em i say!
spot on m.coys now we must sell for the good of the club and replace with quality .Capel -yes Bentley-maybe as for the other two i think setting up a team that can play with one up front with four supporting is better so look for the class striker to replace berbs and keane rather than two average and keep bent he will suit this system.
Berbs is gone, his attitude stinks and the best thing is to get the cash (pref from abroad) and get Pavelychenko or Santa Cruz to replace.
The best Prem partnership is broken, but Keane also worked well with Kanoute. He is much harder to replace; attitude, comitment, leadership, goals, vision and assists. (Not ArseShaving please)
Really excited about Capel or Joachim, after not having a left winger for so long. Bentley, at a decent price, but otherwise we have Lennon, Modric, dos Santos.
Also, lots of exciting prospectsto come back/good;
Bale, Gunter, THudd, Dos Santos, Tarbart (maybe) Peckhart, Bent etc and the fantastically reminiscently named Archibald-Henville (We’ll take more care of you mate).
New season optimism. I love it before it all comes crashing down!
