Tottenham to hijack Juve’s bid for Lopez

French daily L’Equipe understands that Tottenham have joined the race to sign Lyon striker Lisandro Lopez.

Juventus have been attempting to sign the highly rated forward for a couple of weeks now, but they were unable to reach an agreement with the player’s current club.

According to L’Equipe, Tottenham plan to try and take advantage of the situation and have offered to loan Lopez until the end of the season.

Lyon chiefs don’t seem to be interested in letting their star player leave on a temporary deal, but they might just accept Spurs’ proposal if they include a buy-out clause.

Tottenham are terribly short of options in attack, especially now that Emmanuel Adebayor is away on Africa Cup of Nations, and Andre Villas-Boas is keen on signing a high-profile striker before the transfer window closes at midnight.

Lisandro Lopez is believed to be looking for a new challenge, and he is likely to be tempted by the move to White Hart Lane.
