Jonathan Woodgate believes Tottenham Hotspur have a chance to turn the worst start to a season in the club’s history into a seventh-placed finish that may well be enough to qualify for Europe.

“I’d rather be an optimist than a pessimist,” The Guardian reported Woodgate said. “I’d rather look up than down. We’ve got to win as many games as we can. We’re on a good run at the moment. We haven’t been beaten in five games in the league. We’re reaping the benefits of what the manager is telling us to do. We’ve got a chance [of Europe] but let’s not get carried away. There’s a lot of work to do. We’ve got a lot of teams to play around us so hopefully we can get involved [in the battle for Europe].”
