Toulouse in the market for central defender

French media outlet L’Equipe has learned that Toulouse intend to sign a new central defender in the January transfer window.

Le Tefece have been pretty disappointing in the first part of the season, and they currently sit mere two points above the relegation zone.

And with his charges having conceded 29 goals in 19 matches, it is hardly surprising coach Alain Casanova is eager to add a quality centre-back to his ranks at the earliest opportunity.

Even though Toulouse have mostly been signing foreign defenders of late, L’Equipe understands they will now be recruiting a home-based player who can slot straight into the starting line-up.

Alain Casanova’s three-man defence has experienced all sorts of problems this season, and the boss has been unable to find his preferred starting 11.

Rock-solid back line was one of team’s main advantages over the last few years and the boss is now eager to sort out his defence as soon as possible.
