Thanda Royal Zulu coach Neil Tovey said he has no hard feelings after being ruled out of contention for the South Africa coaching job.

Tovey was among five local coaches short-listed for the role to lead Bafana Bafana – the other candidates were Gavin Hunt, Gordon Igesund, Shakes Mashaba and Steve Komphela.

The South Africa FA (SAFA) announced on Monday that either Komphela or Igesund would be chosen for the job after the impressive presentations that they put forward during their interviews with the SAFA technical committee.

Speaking to KickOff.com, Tovey said he was honoured to have been part of the five selected for the coaching position.

“I have no hard feelings,” he said.

“In fact I feel honoured to have been part of the five coaches interviewed for the Bafana head coach position.

“I still have ambitions of being a Bafana coach one day and will take all the experience gained during the interviews to help me realise that dream.”
