Townsend linked with Newcastle United switch

Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsed is set to join Newcastle United on loan in January, according to the Express.

The England international has hardly featured for Spurs so far this season, playing just three times in league with all of those appearances coming as a substitute.

Townsend has been at Spurs since he was eight years old and made his debut for the club aged 19 in a third round FA Cup tie against Charlton Athletic – a game in which he scored and was named man of the match.

Should he move to Newcastle, it would be the tenth loan spell of his career with the twenty-four year old having previously spent time with Yeovil Town, Leyton Orient, Milton Keynes Dons, Ipswich Town, Watford, Millwall, Leeds United, Birmingham City and Queens Park Rangers.

He has also been capped a total of ten times for his country, scoring three goals.
