Yesterday’s transfer deadline day saw a host of players move to pastures, but it was a relatively quiet one compared recent deadline days.

One of the most high-profile transfers of the deadline day was former-Manchester United veteran David Beckham joining PSG on a free transfer. The former-England international left MLS franchise LA Galaxy in December and has signed a five-month deal with the French giants.

One of the other big deals of the day was Mario Balotelli’s £20million move to Serie A with AC Milan from Premier League champions Manchester City. The mercurial 22 year-old has sign a four-and-a-half-year deal with the Rossoneri.

Premier League strugglers QPR had a busy deadline day. Rangers signed centre-back Christopher Samba for a fee in the region of £12.5million from Russian club Anzhi. The former-Blackburn defender has signed a four-and-a-half year contract at Loftus Road.

The Hoops also signed midfielder Jermaine Jenas from Tottenham for an undisclosed fee. The former-Nottingham Forest ace has signed an 18 month contract with the club from Loftus Road.

Rangers completed their business by bringing in young Tottenham midfielder Andros Townsend on-loan for the rest of the season.

Fellow London club Fulham have completed a triple loan swoop. The Cottagers have signed utility player Urby Emanuelson from AC Milan until the end of the season and brought in Stanislav Manolev from PSV in a similar deal. Ajax midfielder Eyong Enoh has also joined until the end of the season.

Sunderland have signed striker Danny Graham from Premier League rivals Swansea for £5million. The 27 year-old has signed a three-and-a-half year contract with the Black Cats and will rival Steven Fletcher for a striking role at the Stadium of Light.

The Black Cats have terminated the contract of former-Everton striker Louis Saha. The veteran striker only joined the club in the summer, but found opportunities in the first team hard to come by.

Norwich have signed Argentinian striker Luciano Becchio from Leeds in an exchange deal for Steve Morison. Becchio was Leeds top goalscorer this season, but had stated that he wanted to leave the club for some time now.

Aston Villa have completed the signing of French midfielder Yacouba Sylla from French club Clermont Foot for a fee in the region of £2million. The 22 year-old has signed a three-and-a-half year deal. The Villans also signed young Tottenham midfielder Simon Hawkins on-loan for the rest of the season.

Tottenham keeper Heurelho Gomes has joined Bundesliga club Hoffenheim on-loan for the rest of the season. The Brazilian international was third choice keeper at White Hart Lane this season behind Brad Friedel and Hugo Lloris in the pecking order.

Stoke have signed USA international midfielder Brek Shea from MLS franchise FC Dallas for a fee in the region of £2.5million. The 22 year-old has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract at the Britannia Stadium.

The Potters have also completed the signing of England international keeper Jack Butland from Birmingham for a fee in the region of £5million. The 19 year-old will stay at St Andrews for the rest of the season and join Stoke in the summer.

A player that has left Potters is former-England centre-back Matthew Upson, who has joined Championship Brighton on-loan until the end of the season.

Premier League Everton have completed the £3million signing of 18 year-old defender John Stones from Barnsley. The highly-rated youngster has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with the Toffee’s.

Arsenal have brought in full-back Nacho Monreal from Malaga for a fee in the region of £8.5million. The 26 year-old has signed a long-term deal at the Emirates Stadium and will provide cover and competition for the injured Kieran Gibbs.

A story from the continent now, as highly-rated young Barcelona winger Isaac Cuenca has joined Dutch champions Ajax on loan for the rest of the season, after being linked with a move to Premier League Liverpool.
