Transfer deadline day special report

Colombian winger Juan Cuadrado is set to be one of the big movers of transfer deadline day

Colombian winger Juan Cuadrado is set to be one of the big movers of transfer deadline day

That day is here again, its transfer deadline day and the mad scramble for teams to strengthen their squads ahead of the 11PM deadline tonight.

It is always a busy day for Premier League clubs and their bosses.

Here are a few of the players who could make a last-gasp move:

Juan Cuadrado (Fiorentina to Chelsea)

According to Sky Sports, Premier League leaders Chelsea are set to splash out £26.1million to sign Colombian winger Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina.

The 26-year-old impressed at the World Cup, but has endured a slightly disappointing campaign with the Viola.

The Colombia World Cup star is highly-rated and Blues boss Jose Mourinho is a big fan. Cuadrado looks set to replace Andre Schurrle at Stamford Bridge, who is reportedly close to signing for Bundesliga club Wolfsburg.

Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah is expected to move to Florence on a season-long loan as part of the deal.

Marquinhos (PSG to Manchester United)

Manchester United have looked in need of a new centre-back since losing the likes of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic in the summer. The Red Devils are now being linked with a last-gasp transfer deadline day move for PSG’s £35million-rated young defender Marquinhos.

The Brazilian is rated as one of the most promising young defenders in the world game. United have stated that it is unlikely that anybody will arrive, but on transfer deadline day anything can happen and centre-back is an area were United need to improve.

However, the Brazilian would prove to be a very expensive signing for the Red Devils, who have already spend over £150million under veteran Dutch boss Louis van Gaal.

Andre Schurrle (Chelsea to Wolfsburg)

It is being reported that Schurrle has agreed personal terms on a move to the Bundesliga. A fee has not yet believed to have been agreed, but with all parties hoping for the deal to go through a deal is likely to be agreed upon.

Schurrle has not quite fulfilled his potential at Chelsea and a move back to his homeland will give him first team football and a chance to fulfil his potential. Schurrle was part of the Germany World Cup winning squad last summer.

Davide Santon (Newcastle to Internazionale)

The two clubs have agreed terms on a loan deal that will see the Italian full-back return to his former-club. Santon arrived on Tyneside as a highly-rated player, but has been restricted to just one FA Cup appearance this season due to injury.

Santon is another player that looked to have lots of potential when he arrived, but never progressed in the manner expected in the north east.

Adnan Januzaj (Manchester United to Everton)

The highly-rated young Belgium winger has struggled to feature since the arrival of Van Gaal at Old Trafford. The youngster is now being linked with a loan move to struggling Everton. Januzaj is regarded as one of the most promising young attacking players in the Premier League.

He would seem like an ideal signing for the Toffees, who have won just two games from their last 14 in all competitions. Januzaj could give Everton some creativity and he could also play more regular first team football at Goodison Park.

Januzaj impressed in United’s weekend 3-1 win against Leicester and has been told by Louis van Gaal that he must keep performing to stay in the first team. A loan move on deadline day cannot be completely ruled out though.

Aaron Lennon (Tottenham to Various)

The former-England winger has struggled to get into the starting line-up for Spurs this season. He now looks set for a loan move away from White Hart Lane before the transfer window slams shut at 11PM.

Various clubs including Stoke, Leicester and Hull have all been linked with a last-gasp move for the 28-year-old. Leicester currently looks like frontrunners to sign the former-Leeds star.
