Transfer wrap: Zamora makes QPR switch, Everton snare Jelavic

Queens Park Rangers have completed the signing of striker Bobby Zamora from Fulham, the Premier League club announced on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old was heavily linked with a January move away from Craven Cottage, and will now join Mark Hughes’ side on a two-and-a-half-year deal after agreeing personal terms.

In a busy transfer deadline day for the Premier League newcomers, Djibril Cisse will also move to Loftus Road after joining from Serie A outfit Lazio for an undisclosed fee.

Cisse, 30, has struggled for form at the Serie A outfit but was prolific in his recent stint at Greek giants Panathinaikos.

QPR will be the French international’s third Premier League club after he spent time at Liverpool and Sunderland previously.

Mali international Samba Diakite also joined Mark Hughes’ side on Tuesday, signing on loan from Nancy.

Everton’s capture of Croatian striker Nikica Jelavic from Rangers also made headlines, with David Moyes’ side paying the Scottish giants a reported seven million pounds for the 26-year-old forward.

Jelavic has starred in the Scottish Premier League this season, scoring a league-high 15 goals.

He has bagged 36 in 55 appearances for Rangers since joining from Rapid Vienna for four million pounds in 2010.

Jelavic’s arrival prompted the departure of Louis Saha from Goodison Park, with the Frenchman moving to Tottenham on a permanent deal after Spurs agreed to take over the remainder of his six-month contract.

Tottenham defender Vedran Corluka meanwhile has moved to Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen on a loan deal that will not expire until the end of the season.

Chelsea signed Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne from Genk on a five-and-a-half year deal, with the Blues loaning the 20-year-old straight back to the Belgian club for the rest of the season.

In other deals, West Ham have signed highly rated youngster Ravel Morrison from Manchester United for one million pounds.

Sunderland manager Martin O’Neill opted to bolster his defence, with Sotirios Kyrgiakos and Wayne Bridge joining the club on loan until the end of the season.

Former Liverpool defender Kyrgiakos has signed from Wolfsburg while Bridge has made the move north from Manchester City.

West Bromwich Albion will be the third Midlands-based club Liam Ridgewell will play for, with Roy Hodgson’s side signing the defender from Birmingham City.

The former Aston Villa defender has signed a two-and-a-half year deal, allowing West Brom to let full-backs Joe Mattock and Gonzalo Jara Reyes leave on loan until the end of the season.

Steve Kean’s bid to save Blackburn from relegation saw him move for another defender, with Swedish international Marcus Olsson joining the Ewood Park outfit.

Bolton Wanderers are another side trying to stave off relegation and their hopes were boosted by the loan signing of Arsenal midfielder Ryo Miyaichi, with the Japanese international to stay at Bolton until the remainder of the season.

Arsenal moved to cover Miyaichi’s departure by signing Thomas Eisfeld from Borussia Dortmund on a long-term deal.

In France, big-spending Paris Saint-Germain spent a reported 10 million pounds to sign Thiego Motta from Inter Milan.

Motta is the latest signing for new PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti in the January transfer window, after Maxwell joined the Ligue 1 leaders from Barcelona and Alex moved from Chelsea .
