Trezeguet hails brace his most special

David Trezeguet insists his brace for River Plate against Almirante Brown means more to him than his winner for France in the Euro 2000 final.

The experienced attacker helped France to the European title some 12 years ago by netting in extra-time, but feels that firing River back to the top flight gave him even more pleasure.

“They were both very important moments in my career. It was a very emotional moment when I scored at the Euros because I didn’t play much with the national side then. This was even more special, though,” Trezeguet told Ole.

“Not only does it mean that River return to the top flight, but I’m also swollen with pride. This has a double meaning for me. It’s even bigger than the goal at Euro 2000.

“Today (Saturday) we completed the objective of returning River to where they deserves to be, the first division. I am very happy to have been able to contribute to reaching the goal.”

River dropped to the Nacional B in 2011, but will be back in Argentina’s top flight next term after a one-year absence.
