(GSM) – FC Twente remain on course to win the Dutch Eredivisie title following a 2-0 win over SC Heerenveen on Saturday.

For a long time, it looked like Twente’s rivals would be the winners of the day but Cheikh Tiote finally broke the deadlock in the 70th minute.

Heerenveen lacked the strength to react and Luuk de Jong even made it 2-0 in the dying minutes.

Twente are now seven points ahead of Ajax, who will need a win over VVV on Sunday in order to restore the original four-points gap with three games to go.

AZ Alkmaar has their winning streak ended at NEC, being held to a disappointing goalless draw. This result may well save Feyenoord’s fourth place as AZ had been knocking on the door for weeks.
