Al Shabab kept their slim hopes of an AFC Champions League berth alive with a 2-0 win over Dubai in the UAE Pro-League on Saturday.
Late goals from Luiz Henrique and Ciel earned visitors Al Shabab all three points at the Dubai Club Stadium, leaving them fifth on the table, one point behind fourth-placed Al Jazira and two back from Bani Yas, who occupy the final Champions League qualifying berth in third.
If Al Jazira and Bani Yas draw their crucial showdown on Monday, and then both lose on the final day of the season, Al Shabab can snatch third, but they will need to win by five clear goals against Al Shaab, who are battling against relegation and were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Al Wasl on Saturday.
Second-bottom Dibba Al Fujairah have renewed hope of escaping the drop after they beat relegated Al Ittihad Kalba 2-1 away from home, to close within two points of Al Shaab.
Elsewhere, champions Al Ain suffered a 2-0 defeat away to Al Wahda, while second-placed Al Ahli eased to a 3-0 win at home to Ajman.
In the other game on Saturday, Al Nasr suffered their third defeat in succession, going down 2-1 at home Al Dhafra.
