The first 11,500 tickets for the UEFA Cup final in Istanbul on May 20 went on sale Monday exclusively through UEFA’s website, European football’s governing body said.
Applicants have until March 20 to request up to two tickets each, but the final allocation will be decided by a lottery.
Another 23,000 tickets — more than half the 42,000 seats in Fenerbahce’s Bükrü Saracoglu stadium — will be distributed in May to supporters of the two clubs that qualify for the final.
UEFA warned that all the tickets on sale this month will be personalised and are only available from its website, in a bid to discourage touts.
The 7,500 remaining tickets will be reserved for footballing officials, sponsors and broadcasters, UEFA said in a statement.
