UEFA has confirmed disciplinary proceedings will commence against the German and Portuguese football associations.

The action follows incidents which took place during Germany’s 1-0 win over Portugal in their Euro 2012 Group B match on Saturday.

Mario Gomez’s 72nd-minute header was enough for the Germans to take all three points in Lviv and kick-start their Euro 2012 campaign.

UEFA has charged the German Football Association for the throwing of missiles by the German supporters, while the Portuguese Football Federation has also been cited, following Portugal’s delayed return for the second-half kick-off.

The UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body will hear the individual cases on Thursday.
