United closing in on Shaw

Manchester United are close to completing a deal for Southampton left back Luke Shaw, according to the Mirror.

The two clubs, who played out a 1-1 draw at St Mary’s yesterday afternoon in the final round of Premier League games, have agreed a fee in the region of £25m for the defender, whose form this season was highlighted by his selection in this season’s PFA Team of the Year.

He is also likely to be included in England manager Roy Hodgson’s World Cup party, not least due to the announcement from Ashley Cole of his international retirement.
The 18 year old is now set to discuss personal terms with United, who are moving quickly as they look to recover from a disastrous season.

Despite his young age Shaw has made sixty top-flight appearances, winning his first and so far only international cap in a 1-0 win over Denmark in March.
