Titleholders Manchester United qualified for the European Champions League final here on Tuesday beating Arsenal 3-1 on the night and 4-1 on aggregate in the second leg of their semi-final.
Two goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and one from Korean Park Ji-Sung were more than enough to see off Arsenal, whose only reply was through a late penalty by Robin van Persie – which saw Darren Fletcher sent-off.
That decision means Fletcher will miss the Rome final against either last year’s finalists, Chelsea, or Barcelona, who play their second leg on Wednesday.
