United set to make Hummels approach

Manchester United are set make a move for Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels, according to the Express.

The Premier League club had been considering a bid for Brazilian centre-back Marquinhos of Paris Saint Germain, who is set to fall down the pecking order with the French champions following the arrival of David Luiz, though Laurent Blanc has insisted that he won’t be sold.

Hummels, who scored in Germany’s 4-0 win over Portugal in Salvador on Monday, has stated that he would be open to a move to Old Trafford having previously been linked with the club.

The 25 year old began his career with Bayern Munich, moving to Dortmund initially on loan in January 2008 before making the switch permanent a year later.

During his time at the Westfalenstadion, he has won two Bundesliga titles and one German Cup while internationally, he has thirty-one caps and three goals for his country.
