Rangers have agreed a deal with the MLS to take US star midfielder, Maurice Edu, from Toronto FC to Scotland, according to Setanta Sports. Edu was the first overall draft pick in the 2007 MLS draft when he was snatched by the only Canadian club in the MLS.
The report states that Rangers will have to fork over about £2.7 million to sign the player and that the move will only go through once Edu’s work permit application goes through.
Edu, an US international has impressed for Toronto FC in midfield during his eighteen months with the Canadian franchise, scoring five goals. The 22-year-old can be deployed either as a holding midfielder or as a more creative, attacking player.
