Penarol celebrated their Uruguay Primera Division title with a 2-0 home win over Liverpool on Monday.
Jorge da Silva’s side had the title wrapped up with one match to go and finished off the season with a comfortable victory in front of their home fans at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo.
Sebastian Gallegos opened the scoring on 38 minutes for the winners before Juan Olivera’s 71st-minute strike sealed the result.
Penarol finished the 15-match season with 11 wins, three draws and one loss. Liverpool had a disappointing campaign and were 12th at season’s end.
