Usain Bolt trains with Dortmund

Retired sprinter and 100m world-record holder Usain Bolt trained with Borussia Dortmund‘s first team on Friday.

The fastest man on the planet has been talking about playing football professionally for a while, and while he often expressed his desire to put on a Manchester United shirt, on Friday he trained in the black-and-yellow gear of Dortmund.

It remains unclear whether he will sign a professional contract at this point. Dortmund’s head coach Peter Stoger said Bolt had talent but obviously needed to do a lot of work before he could play at top level.

Though leaving it late to start – he’s 31 years old – Bolt will hardly have any problems with pace. He won eight Olympic gold medals in his career as a sprinter. Should he absorb the football education needed at such a high level quickly, he’s likely to be a valuable asset to any team he might pledge his services to.
