(GSM) – Utrecht are close to a spot in the UEFA Europa League following a 3-1 win over Groningen in the Dutch play-offs.

Ricky van Wolfswinkel put Utrecht in the lead after 22 minutes and home fans were barely done celebrating when Nana Asare added another one minute later.

Groningen fought back with a goal from Tim Matavz five minutes before the break, but an own goal from Andreas Granqvist in the final minute handed Utrecht a 3-1 victory.

In the other play-off, Roda JC and Heracles held each other to a 1-1 draw.

Mads Junker scored the opening goal in Roda’s favor after 40 minutes, but Bas Dost levelled the score with 13 minutes to go.

The return legs of both ties will be played on Sunday, May 9.
