Valencia reject Gomes approach

Spanish side Valencia have rejected a proposal worth £32 million for Portugal international Andre Gomes, Sky Sports has learned.

It is understood that Chelsea have posted an official offer in their efforts to land the 22-year-old Portuguese midfielder, who has attracted a lot of interest from Europe’s heavyweights following his impressive season with Los Che.

Manchester United and Juventus have all been linked with the talented centre-midfielder who scored 10 goals and registered 12 assists in 33 La Liga appearances during last season.

Gomes is contracted to Mestalla club until 2020 and has a hefty buy-out clause of €150 million. Sky Sports however understands that Valencia would be willing to let their played go for a fee of £42 million as they are keen to drive up the fee for Gomes due to an existing sell-on clause between Los Che and his former club Benfica.

Portugal outfit are due to receive 25% of any transfer fee for the player who arrived to Spain just a year ago.
