Valencia CF have sacked Dutch manager Ronald Koeman today, after yet another painful defeat in the Primera Division a day earlier.

After the Copa del Rey final last week, Valencia formally gave Koeman their support but just a few days later, the side crashed to a 5-1 defeat at Athletic de Bilbao.

At a press conference on Monday, Valencia confirmed the rumours that have been spreaded by Spanish media in the last weeks.

Koeman joined Valencia to replace the sacked Quique Sanchez Flores in October. At the time, the team occupied the fourth spot in the Liga.

Six months later, Valencia are in sixteenth place, only two points ahead of the relegation zone.
