Valencia to pounce for Hugo Almeida

Valencia have officially expressed interest in Werder Bremen forward Hugo Almeida, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

Valencia officials are aware that the Portuguese will be free to speak to other interested clubs come January and this is why they have decided to act quickly.

Club’s technical secretary Braulio Vasquez met with Almeida last Saturday and informed him of Valencia’s interest in his services.

The 26-year-old has been followed by Los Che for quite a while but Unai Emery wanted someone to get a closer look into the player’s character and to transmit him club’s ideas and objectives and that is exactly what Braulio Vasquez was sent to do.

Almeida would clearly be a perfect signing for cash-strapped Valencia as Los Che would get an excellent player free of charge.

The Spaniards are also hoping summer signing Ricardo Costa, Almeida’s good friend, will be able to help Valencia get their man.
