Ernesto Valverde has acknowledged that his return to Athletic Bilbao is a risk after officially being unveiled as their new manager.
Valverde heads back to the club that he managed between 2003-05, when he guided them to a UEFA Cup place during his first stint.
And the 49-year-old realises that it is a gamble going back to the San Mames Stadium.
“The second parts, except The Godfather, they say are not good,” he said.
“The fact that it seems to be more difficult, because you have to meet expectations, is to me more of a challenge than anything else.”
The Spaniard left Valencia earlier in June after narrowly missing out on a UEFA Champions League place, but he almost renewed his contract at the club.
“At Valencia I was about to renew (my contract),” he continued.
“But the circumstances changed and that made me wonder more (about my position).”
