Eredivisie giants Ajax lost 1-0 against Groningen in an important league match on Sunday: midfielder Danny Holla’s first half goal resulted decisive.

“This game was crucial for our title bid and we needed the victory. We’re not giving up, but AZ have been quite impressive so far. We can’t do anything but wait on them to make a mistake”, said Ajax coach Marco Van Basten to Eredivisie Live.

“Jan Vertonghen received an undeserved booking. I stepped onto the pitch to make clear that the referee made a wrong decision”, he added.
