Van der Vaart hints at Ajax return

Real Betis midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has admitted that he would love to return to Ajax in the summer transfer window.

The 33-year-old joined los Verdiblancos last summer, but he has largely struggled for playing time after suffering an ankle injury early on.

Van der Vaart will now be allowed to leave the club even though he has another year left on his contract, and the experienced footballer is still not thinking about hanging up his boots.

He rather feels ready to continue playing and hopes to receive an offer from former club Ajax.

“My career is definitely not over. I am very fit and still have big desire,” van der Vaart told Voetbal International.

“I have no idea if Ajax are going to call again. It would be quite nice.”

Rafael van der Vaart has spent almost ten years playing at the highest level, but he has since struggled at the end of his spell with Hamburg and also experienced plenty of problems at Real Betis.

Therefore, he will want to make sure that his next move gives him the best possible chance of regular first team football.
