Ajax are keeping close tabs on Vitesse midfielder Marco van Ginkel, Dutch newspaper Voetbal International has revealed.
The Amsterdam ArenA outfit could easily stay without captain Siem de Jong in the summer transfer window seeing that the talented midfielder is followed by a number of Europe’s top sides.
With Christian Eriksen also likely to leave, Ajax are eager to sign another attacking midfielder for the 2013/2014 season.
Having missed out on Heereneveen starlet Filip Djuricic, the Amsterdammers have turned their attention towards Vitesse star Marco van Ginkel.
The 20-year-old has a contract until June 2015 and is considered an indispensable member of the squad at GelreDome. Vitesse are not interested in selling their prized asset, but they might not be able to resist a big money offer in the summer.
Van Ginkel has been in scintillating form this season, scoring 7 goals and producing 8 assists in 28 Eredivisie matches, and he was even handed a full Netherlands debut in the friendly match against Germany.
