Mineros de Guayana took a 1-0 lead in their Copa Sudamericana play-off tie with Aragua after the first leg on Sunday.

Ricardo Blanco scored the game’s only goal at the Estadio Olimpico Hermanos Ghersi Paez, to leave the Ciudad Guayana club in pole position to seal a spot in the continental competition.

Mineros de Guayana goalkeeper Euro Guzman was outstanding in the win and finished with a deserved clean sheet.

In the other play-off first leg, Deportivo Tachira were pulled back to a 1-1 draw at home to Trujillanos.

Galmin Rivas fired the hosts ahead on 14 minutes, but they were forced to settle for a stalemate when Cesar Alzate equalised prior to the break.

Both second legs will take place next Saturday.
