Leaders Zamora suffered just their second defeat of the season in the Venezuelan Primera Division on Sunday.

Zamora now lead the pack by goal difference only after fourth-placed Mineros de Guayana claimed a 1-0 victory.

Richard Blanco scored the only goal of the game after 64 minutes as Mineros’ unbeaten record at home this season continued.

Blanco has now scored 10 goals in 14 matches and tops the league’s scoring charts with Zamora’s Panama international Gabriel Torres.

Second-placed Deportivo Anzoategui failed to take full advantage of Zamora’s defeat as they were held to a goalless draw at Deportivo Tachira.

Trujillanos lost for the first time in more than two months as they fell to a 2-1 home defeat against Atletico Venezuela.

Omar Perdomo gave Trujillanos the lead after 39 minutes but Argentine Maxi Bevacqua levelled proceedings just before the hour mark.

And a Maiker Gonzalez own goal with 17 minutes to play gave Atletico Venezuela a valuable away win.

Portuguesa are still bottom of the table despite registering their first win of the season against Monagas.

Herlin Cuica’s strike after 20 minutes was enough to give the strugglers a 1-0 success on the road.

Other results saw Atletico El Vigia and Deportivo Lara win 1-0 at Deportivo Petare and Yaracuyanos respectively.

Strugglers Zulia lost 1-0 at Estudiantes De Merida while Real Esppor won by the same scoreline, edging Aragua at home.
