Vermaelen, Szczesny nearing Arsenal exit

Daily Mirror is suggesting that Thomas Vermaelen and Wojciech Szczesny could be leaving Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

The two players were surprisingly left out of the squad to face Bayern in the return leg of the Champions League last 16 clash, which is enough to suggest they are no longer held in high regard by boss Arsene Wenger.

Captain Vermaelen has been heavily criticized for his performances this season, despite enjoying a bright start to his career at the Emirates.

He is reportedly a target for Barcelona, and the Gunners are unlikely to stand in his way if a lucrative offer arrives in the summer.

Wojciech Szczesny has also suffered a big dip in form this season, and he may not be returning to the starting line-up for the remainder of the league campaign.

Arsene Wenger has been linked with moves for Victor Valdes and Pepe Reina, meaning that he is searching for a replacement for the Polish keeper.
