Defending Copa Libertadores winners Boca Juniors from Argentina beat Brazils Cruzeiro 2 1 in an incident marred match in Buenos Aires last night.
A missile throwing incident resulted in a missile from the crowd had hit a linesman on the head cutting him severely enough to have the match called off by referee Jorge Larrionda with one minute left on the clock to play.
The incident took place in front of the VIP stand.
The South American Football Confederation (CSF) allows results to stand in such cases and both Argentina and Brazilian media have said that Boca had won although they have suggested that the hosts could face further sanctions.
