Melbourne Victory have added a fifth new player to their 2012/13 playing squad, with the club announcing the signing of Guilherme Finkler.

Brazilian midfielder Finkler arrives on a two-year deal, joining Jonathan Bru, Spase Dilevski, Sam Gallagher and Adama Traore as Victory’s newest additions, and coach Ange Postecoglou said he was looking forward to working with the South American.

“Brazilian players have certain qualities that not many other players possess, so I’m confident he can bring a different type of flair to the group,” Postecoglou said.

“Guilherme is an exciting prospect and I’m looking forward to working with him.”

The 26-year-old most recently plied his trade with ABC Futebol Club after he was loaned there from fellow Brazilian Serie B club Criciuma.

Although he has played most of his professional career in Brazil, he did spend the 2006/07 campaign with English side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Finkler is expected to arrive in Melbourne in early July.

“It’s very exciting for me to be joining Melbourne Victory,” the Brazilian said.

“I have known Fernando Rech (former Adelaide United striker) for a long time and he told me how nice Australia is and that the standard of football is very good.”
