(GSM) – Aston Villa are set to renew their interest in Tottenham’s striker Robbie Keane. Keane, currently on-loan at Celtic, is one of the main targets of Villa manager Martin O’Neill according to The Mirror.
The Republic of Ireland’s record goalscorer has been in top-form after moving to Scotland and Tottenham have denied that the club will look to offload him in the summer.
However, a disappointing second spell at White Hart Lane has raised question marks over Keane’s long-term future at the club.
O’Neill is known to be an admirer of Keane’s talents. And with Celtic unable to match Keane’s £65,000-a-week contract, Aston Villa will be keen to jump at the chance to bring the Irish striker to Villa Park.
Villa may look to fund the potential swoop by offloading some of their fringe players like Habib Beye, Steve Sidwell and Nicky Shorey.
