The Daily Star today claims that Aston Villa are set to launch an £8 million bid to land Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart. However, Villa may find competition from the likes of Tottenham who have also expressed an interest.
Villa boss Martin O’Neill is set to offer £8 million pounds for the star, whereas Tottenham boss Juande Ramos is ready to offer Paul Robinson plus £4 million to land the keeper.
All the signs are that Hart could be available and ready to leave Manchester City given the recent turmoil at Eastlands.
Reports also suggest that City have offered little improvement on his contract, which is said to have upset the England under-21 international.
Hart signed a £5,000-a-week contract when he signed from Shrewsbury in May 2006. Despite the fact that he was originally signed as a back-up youth keeper, Hart has now only been offered a new £10,000-a-week deal now he is number one at Eastlands.
Hart, 21, joined Manchester City as third choice, and was touted as “one for the future” at Eastlands. However, once Sven Goran- Eriksson took charge at City, Hart quickly shot to the number one spot ahead of Andreas Isaksson and Kasper Schmeichel.
Hart’s rise through the City squad has also been reflected in his international career, and Fabio Capello looks set to give the keeper his full international debut in the next few months.
Martin O’Neill is said to be desperate to land a new keeper after being priced out on a move for Liverpool keeper Scott Carson.
Juande Ramos is also reportedly looking to bring a new goalkeeper to White Hart Lane after the departure of Radek Cerney.
And the little confidence the Spaniard has shown in Paul Robinson since taking over at White Hart Lane confirms that Tottenham are likely to move for a new keeper.

Got something to say?

Tottenham and Villa have no chance of signing Harte. Dispite current mangerial issues at City, they are no longer a selling club and are very unlikely to sell Englands future to our rivals. This is a non story
