Villa want Belgian goal-machine

Metro is reporting that Aston Villa are set to reignite their interest in Racing Genk striker Jelle Vossen.

The Villans boss Paul Lambert is looking to reinforce his attacking options after his side failed to score in four consecutive Premier League matches.

And Metro has suggested that Lambert has made Genk’s Jelle Vossen one of his primary targets in the January transfer window.

Aston Villa have already raided the Belgian side for Christian Benteke, who has gone on to become a key player at Villa Park.

However, with the 22-year-old on the radar of several top clubs, Lambert is also looking to bring Jelle Vossen to Brimingham.

Vossen has spent his entire career at Genk bar a loan spell at Cercle Brugge, scoring a total of 75 goals in 160 league appearances.

He has also earned 14 Belgium caps, but failed to make a single appearance during the 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign, watching five matches from the substitutes bench.
