Villarreal sign Cristian Espinoza

Villarreal CF have announced that they have completed the signing of Argentine forward Cristian Espinoza from Huracan.

The total cost of the transfer is €7.2 million, as the Yellow Submarine met the player’s €5 million release clause, while they have to pay another €2.2 million in taxes.

The 21-year-old will join his new teammates after representing Argentina at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Cristian Espinoza is the product of Huracan’s youth academy and he has so far made 90 league appearances for the Argentine club, scoring 9 goals in the process.

The right-sided winger can also operate as a second striker or an attacking midfielder, but he will probably be used on the right hand side in Marcelino Garcia Toral’s 4-4-2 formation.

Villarreal have been quite busy in the summer transfer window, having previously recruited Denis Cheryshev, Alfred N’Diaye, Andres Fernandez, Jose Angel, Alexandre Pato and Robero Soriano.
