Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has denied claims that he is set to raid former club Porto for star striker Jackson Martinez.

Martinez, 26, arrived at Porto in July 2012 from Mexican side Chiapas after an impressive season in which he scored 20 goals in 35 league appearances, and he has been even more effective in Portugal since his move.

The Colombia international’s 26 league goals propelled Porto to their third successive Primeira Liga title and recent reports had suggested he was a summer target for Spurs, but Villas-Boas ruled out a move for the £25 million-rated forward.

He told Desporte: “We don’t want Jackson Martinez.”

Villas-Boas also spoke Atletico Mineiro’s Brazil international attacking midfielder Bernard, admitting that they have identified the 20-year-old as a talent, but he does not expect that to materialise into a transfer.

He added: “Bernard’s a player that we monitor like many others, but I think Tottenham will do nothing regarding them.”
