Scotland got off to the worst possible start to their World Cup campaign with a 1-0 defeat in Macedonia. Although Macedonia is never an easy place to visit, the team, fans and manager will have expected to come away with at least a point.
A 5th minute Naumoski goal was enough to take the points with Scotland rarely looking like getting an equaliser. A slightly improved second half performance by the Scots will not have been enough to take the pressure off of George Burley.
Wales just managed to avoid the humiliation of dropping points at home to Azerbaijan. Jason Koumas missed a penalty before the visitors were reduced to ten men. Even then Wales still laboured in front of a small crowd and looked devoid of ideas.
Eventually, eighteen year old substitute Sam Vokes popped up in the area to give Wales the three points.
Trips to Russia and Germany face the Welsh and those two nations will have seen little to worry them in this game.
