Warnock content despite draw

Queens Park Rangers boss Neil Warnock says he was happy with their effort against West Brom despite giving up a late equaliser in the 1-1 draw.

A late strike from Shane Long helped West Brom cancel out Heidar Helguson’s 20th-minute opener, and Warnock’s side were unfortunate not to take all three points after spurning a host of chances.

Despite the disappointment of the draw, Warnock said he was happy with his team’s endeavour.

“I would be more concerned if we weren’t playing brilliantly,” Warnock said.

“We have come so far. We’re gutted to draw with West Bromwich Albion in a game we’ve dominated. If you look back 12 months ago, I think we’ve moved on more than anybody else in the country.”

“I would like us to move on again and I think it is great to watch. I love watching us play. I am frustrated with the result, but there are not many people I would change at the minute.”

Predictably, West Brom boss Roy Hodgson was delighted to come away from Loftus Road with a point despite being outplayed for much of the match.

“It is a good start to December, coming away to QPR and getting a point,” Hodgson said.

“Their record here has been good here. They beat Chelsea and ran Man City very close so we knew it wouldn’t be an easy game.”

“We’re not unhappy with that but as far as I am concerned, every month is crucial, every game is crucial. There are only 38 games in a year and you need points in all of them really.”
