A row has broken out at Championship club Watford between the current Chairman, Graham Simpson, and the life vice-president, Sir Elton John.
Sir Elton spoke out about what he considers to be the squandering of millions of pounds by the current board and Mr Simpson has replied by politely denying what was said and telling the pop superstar to shut up.
Club manager Aidy Boothroyd is always good for a quote and the press have been trying to get his opinion about what is going on. He is Simpson’s man, but many people believe it is Boothroyd that has primed Sir Elton.
Asked by local BBC radio if he would act as a peacemaker, Boothroyd replied, “What I would say to that is what they would say to me: ‘Shut up, it’s none of your business. You get on with running the team, get the team winning rather than pass an opinion’. So, I’ll take that advice.”
Great stuff Aidy!
