Watford keen to keep hold of Deeney and Ighalo

Watford strike pair Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo are set to be offered new contracts in an attempt to warn off potential suitors, according to the Mirror.

The duo have scored twenty of their sides’ twenty-four goals in the Premier League so far this season, with Ighalo even being mooted as a potential winner of the PFA Player of the Year award.

The Nigeria international has fourteen strikes to his name, with only Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy and Everton’s Romelu Lukaku ahead of him in the race for the Golden Boot with each having scored just one more.

Of club captain Deeney’s six goals, four have come from the penalty spot though all of his tally have come in the past ten matches.

Quique Sanchez Florres side lost to Tottenham Hotspur on Monday, but remain just two points of the top five and can be backed at 5/4 to finish the season in the top ten.
